Summary
In Chapter 29, Serenity explains the meaning of the term poltergeist. These ghosts are those of people who were wronged and never got to fight back. They sometimes appear as one of the natural elements — water, fire or wind. Serenity tells Virgil she believes they were chased out of the house by Grace, who had visited them as a water poltergeist. Just as Virgil is asking why Gideon would have faked Nevvie’s death, Serenity’s cell phone begins to ring. It is Jenna.
Jenna tells them she found Gideon and although she’d thought he might have hurt her mother, she learned that Alice was pregnant with Gideon’s baby.
