Summary
In Chapter 24, Maura grieved deeply after her baby was born dead. She even stopped eating. With no herd to console Maura and help her through her grief, she was an interesting study for Alice’s research. Alice noted Thomas had thrown himself into a new funding project and didn’t seem anything like the man he’d been in the days just following the death of Maura’s calf. Alice hoped to never see that man again. She planned to do everything she could to ensure that Thomas wouldn’t go down that road again.
