Summary
Jenna remembers a conversation between her mother and father that was so important to her mother that she had recorded it in her journal. Alice lies with her head in his lap as they talk about monogamy in the animal world. At the end of their conversation, he gives her a pebble, telling her that a penguin would give a pebble to another penguin whom he felt was his perfect mate.
