Summary
Hough explains that she, her mother, and her brother Mikey left the Children of God cult when she was 15 years old. At 16, while living in Amarillo, Texas, Hough learns that David Berg, the founder of the cult, has died. She shows her mother the newspaper clipping and her mother tells her never to tell anyone about her childhood because they would not understand. Hough takes this to heart, often lying about her upbringing and never getting close enough to anyone to tell them the truth.
