Summary
In Chapter 18, Amanda, Ruth, and G.H. sat by the pool drinking wine while Archie and Rose swam. They discussed their children and Ruth and G.H.'s grandchildren. Amanda was no longer suspicious of the Washingtons. She realized G.H.'s name was George Washington and laughed. She then began to feel anxious about Clay's absence.
In Chapter 19, Rose goaded Archie to follow her into the woods to investigate. They found a shed on the surrounding property but it was empty. Archie teased his sister by suggesting that someone was living in the shed and looking in her bedroom window at night. Rose told Archie about the deer she saw the day before.
