Leah's Universe Dress

Leah’s universe dress is a symbol of Leah’s desire to feel strong and powerful, and fits into the motif of the universe. Albertalli first mentions the dress in Chapter 8 when Leah thinks, “I dress carefully, like I’m going into battle. I feel stronger when I look cute” (73). The dress is dark blue and black with stars and galaxies on it and Leah’s “boobs are literally out of this world” (73). Later in Chapter 28, Abby notices the dress and compliments Leah on it and Leah thinks to herself, “It’s the universe one, and I’m not going to lie.
