Summary
In "Falling," the last time Anja consulted her accounts after the settling of Pieter’s estate, “she had more than 10 million dollars at her fingertips” (54). She calls the younger Sandro “Little Sandro,” or “Sandrino,” and every Monday he takes her to a film series curated by a professor at the university (54). Now that Pieter has died, Anja thinks more often of home; snow is the only thing she loves about New York, as it reminds her of Malmö. She has never returned to her hometown. When Sandrino comes to pick her up, he smells of marijuana; “she does not mind that he is often ‘elevated,’ as he calls it” (55).
