Stacey Abrams
Stacey Abrams is the author and first person narrator of the book. She is a politician, entrepreneur, nonprofit CEO, speaker, author and strategist. Abrams grew up in a working class household in Mississippi, where she stood out as a brilliant student. Despite her academic abilities, the poverty and discrimination of Mississippi left quite the impression on her. She left Mississippi to attend Spelman College, an elite historically black woman’s college in Atlanta, Georgia. After Spelman, she got her master’s degree from the University of Texas and then attended Yale Law School. She returned to Atlanta to begin her professional career as a lawyer and eventually entered politics, becoming the House minority leader in the state of Georgia.
