Summary

In Chapter 5, Leeds and Layla arrive at the bed and breakfast. It is abandoned, and “the grounds look to be in limbo” (59). Layla does not seem impressed. Leeds wonders if Layla’s memory loss is more severe. Leeds thinks about buying the bed and breakfast.

Chapter 6 finds Layla unpacking and Leeds making some soup. Leeds goes to check on Layla and returns to the kitchen smelling smoke. A towel is smoldering, and the kitchen faucet is running. Layla comes into the kitchen, and Leeds checks around to see if someone else was in the kitchen because he did not leave the water running.

During Interview 4, Leeds continues telling the detective what happened when the towel started smoldering. The detective is curious about any other oddities that happened when Leeds and Layla arrived.

Chapter 7 opens with Layla picking at a pasta dinner...
