Summary

In this section, Lavinia describes her life while she is married to Aeneas. She relates how she had to leave behind the Penates of Laurentum, and adopt the new household deities of Aeaneas' Troy. She also describes Aeneas' attitude towards her as a wife. During one conversation that they have, Aeneas expresses his guilt for killing Turnus. He believes that it was only because of a fit of madness that he killed Turnus, which he considers to be unholy, or nefas. Lavinia attempts to reassure him that his killing of Turnus was just.

Lavinia then describes the development and growth of their new city, Lavinium. The buildings are described as being built in the Italian style, rather than the Trojan.
