Summary
Alex, unable to sleep, went downstairs one night and found Lydia sitting up in the living room. They had a drink together and Alex consoled Lydia, putting his arm around her shoulders. Sandy took Grace to dinner (as a favor to Isobel), and afterwards she asked to go home with her. He politely declined.
Christine discovered Lydia reading Alex's book of poems. She recalled having a number of intellectual arguments with Alex when they were younger. Lydia and Christine discussed their pasts and Lydia asked Christine why she was not painting. Christine curtly responded that she was taking a break. Everyone gathered to finish the quilt made of Zachary's clothes. Isobel mentioned she had a date with a man, but it was awkward. When they had gone to clink their glasses of beer together after a toast, hers had shattered, spilling beer all...
