Summary
Jane enjoys her time at the old manor at Chelsea in July 1553. She has a few ladies in waiting who attend to her needs and Guildford visits her often. When the ladies ask if she misses Guildford, she replies, “not particularly.” (43) She sees their marriage as one of endurance, bound by the fact they have to obey their parents and were married in the eyes of God. She said she cannot imagine why any woman would want to have sex; it was just a duty. (43) Jane turns to her books for information about sex, but finds none.
