Chapters 13 and 14 Summary

In Chapter 13, Sydney, Rose, and Dimitri are back in the room they are sharing at Raymond's house. They are discussing The Keeper ritual that the closest relative to The Keeper getting married has to fight the fiancé, which is why Angeline started the fight with Sydney. If the engagement was real, then Dimitri would have to fight Joshua. Sydney goes with Dimitri to get a cell phone signal outside of the village, so Dimitri can check on locating Sonya. While they are gone, Rose bonds with Lissa and sees that Lissa is with Christina and Adrian. They knock on Ambrose's door and ask to speak to him, but he says he is busy with one of his massage clients. They find out from Ambrose that Tatiana passed the age law for the dhampirs to fight as a way to protect them...
