Colonel Zamatev is talking to a soldier. The soldier is telling Zamatev about being caught in a trap set by the American, Mack. The soldier tells Zamatev that the only reason Mack did not kill him was because Mack wanted the solider to give a package to Zamatev.
Zamatev is angry that Mack has once again escaped their capture and then asks if anyone has seen Alekhin. When Zamatev is alone, he opens the package.
