Summary
15.24. As she visits her sister and niece, Sara contemplates how “when something is born, something dies” (164), with conversation revealing that she has had her conversation with Ivik. She fights back her feelings of upset, but her sister knows something is wrong and suggests that she hold the baby. The baby starts to cry and Sara starts to panic, but her sister reassures her and soon both Sara and the baby relax. When the baby seems to smile at Sara, Sara feels intense joy and gratitude.
