Summary
Chapter 6 began the morning after Lilia’s escape. Her brother was the first to go downstairs, seeing Lilia’s trail of footprints leading to her father’s. He closed the front door, which Lilia had left open the night before, yet still felt the cold rush of air coming through a broken window in the kitchen.
He went upstairs and told his mom what had happened. She immediately asked him to get a ball as she cleaned the broken glass from under the broken window. Soon after, the police arrived and she told them that Simon had thrown a ball through the window. They did not seem to care about her story and instead focused on the two converging sets of footprints; one left by Lilia and the other by her father the night prior.
