Summary

Part V takes place between December of 1954 and January of 1955. Chapter 30 opens with Lily and Kath returning to the club on the 30th of December. They met Claire and Paula, who went to the bathroom and came back with Lana Jackson. Lana invited everyone to a party after the show. Lily wondered if this included her and Kath, and hoped it did.

In Chapter 31, Kath asked Lily if she wanted to go to Lana’s. Lily said she did, and Kath agreed to go, but Lily was confused by Kath’s seeming hesitance. Once at Lana’s, Lily realized that Lana and Tommy lived together. A woman named Sal annoyed Lily by remarking that Lily did not have an accent, and then called to a woman named Patsy to ask where she had met “that other one” (252), meaning an...
