Chapter 46: But Each Unhappy Family
Agnes told Paul that she had been born Agnes Gouge to a working class mother and a mostly absent father. The family had moved from Michigan to Boston to find more opportunities for Agnes as a singer. Unfortunately, they had no connections with the entertainment world. One day Agnes' mother stole a dress from one of her clients and said they would be starting a new life in Paris.
