Mona Mayfair

Mona Mayfair is the youngest of the Mayfair witches, and is extremely powerful as a result of the fact that her bloodline is deeply incestuous and therefore contains more witch's blood than any of her coevals. Despite being only thirteen years old, Mona fancies herself mature beyond her years, and seeks to prove this not only through willful refusal to obey the orders of her elders, but also by seducing Michael Curry, whose wife, Rowan, has recently disappeared without explanation. She is organized, cutting, intelligent, and persuasive, but her early interests are also naïve and frivolous.

As the novel progresses, Mona begins to take on an increasingly serious personality. She is one of the first to understand that Lasher poses a threat not only to Rowan but also to the rest of the Mayfair women, and is keenly attuned to his whereabouts—in part due to...
