Summary

A young girl named Emaleth is born to two parents. Her mother and father frequently fight, and Emaleth is torn between her love for them. Her father wants to move the family to Donnelaith, an ancient place, and start a new society there, while her mother is in love with a man named Michael Curry, who lives in New Orleans and who Father believes has stolen his house from him.
