Summary

Meiling has been gone for three months when Maoren and Yuxian receive a letter from Beijing requesting that Yuxian come to the capital to serve as a doctor to one of the Ladies there. Maoren is elated that Yuxian has been chosen for this honor, but Yuxian does not want to travel so far for such a small task, revealing to Maoren that she is pregnant. This is thrilling news to him, and they both hope for a boy. Despite not wanting to go, Yuxian cannot refuse an Imperial request.
