Summary
Word gets out around Yunxian's new home that she practices medicine. A concubine of Yunxian's father-in-law, Lady Chen, clandestinely asks if Yunxian can confirm whether or not she is pregnant. Yunxian must practice medicine in secret because of Lady Kuo, but agrees to help Lady Chen. After secretly examining her, Yunxian confirms that Lady Chen is pregnant. They both go to inform Lady Kuo of this development, where Yunxian also reveals that she, too, is three months pregnant.
Yunxian wants Meiling and Midwife Shi to assist in the delivery of her baby, but Lady Kuo refuses, believing that midwives are too low class to enter into the household. More than just upsetting Yunxian, because she has not seen Meiling in so long, it also scares her. She knows what an ordeal childbirth is, and how important it is...
