XVIII - Robert Receives a Visitor Whom He Had Scarcely Expected
The next day it begins to snow; hard enough that the average person chooses to stay indoors. Despite the accumulating snow, Lady Audley braves the inclement weather to visit Robert Audley at Mount Stanning. She affects to be saddened by her husband's decision to evict Robert from Audley Court. Robert claims that he has no hard feelings toward his uncle, rather his mood is due to the disappearance of his friend, George Talboys. He informs Lady Audley that he has placed ads in the Australian papers asking for information from anyone regarding George.
