Chapter 15-16 Summary
Cole, Pike, and Dolan meet with Frank Garcia, who does not recognize the names of the other four victims of the serial killer. Garcia does, however, immediately sense that Dolan knows more that she is telling, but he allows her to search Karen's childhood room. The detectives find nothing but letters from Karen's pen pal, some of which deal with Karen's relationship with a cop named Joe. Karen writes that she fears Joe may be in love with someone else.
Pike reflects on a time when he took Karen to a police department family picnic. They meet up with Paulette Wozniak, Pike's partner's wife. She confides in Joe that she fears her husband may be having an affair. Joe knows that Abel is, in fact, having an affair, as well as participating in a larceny ring, but his feelings for Paulette...
