Summary
In Chapter 8, the trial continues, though Miller was not permitted in the courtroom while other witnesses were testifying. She read an article about Turner's testimony online; he claimed that she had consented to digital penetration, then admitted he lied when he told Detective Kim he had not run away after being confronted by the Swedes. Several character witnesses testified next, including Turner's ex-girlfriend and former swim coach. Miller was anxious and distraught reading about these testimonies online and waiting for the trial to end. She sat in for the closing statements of the attorneys as Alaleh argued once more that she was incapacitated and incapable of consent, while the defense argued the opposite.
