Claudia Hernández, or Claudia Penise ( "Denise" misspelled on her birth certificate) Hernández Ramos as the opening page and Claudia’s legal birth documents attest, is the author of Knitting the Fog. She is born in the small Guatemalan town of Mayuelas and grows up between Mayuelas and another town called Tactic. She is energetic and rambunctious, and despite her good intentions often finds herself in trouble in this memoir. A characteristic moment for Claudia is the way that she confesses her sins, preferring simply to allude to the fact that she has sinned rather than enumerating the specific sins for the Father.
