Chapter 115-118 Summary

Cross stakes out a small house in the middle-class Edgemont section of Durham. Earlier that night, Cross poured over the local newspaper's accounts of the Tierney/Hutchinson murders. In one of the stories, he found a name that appeared just once in all of the newspaper coverage. The name in the paper links Rudolph and Casanova. It also explained how they met and why they talked. He thought about his shoot-out with Casanova in Chapel Hill and the "perfect crimes" aspect of the cases. Detective Davey Sikes is Cross' suspect. Sikes was a detective on the Tierney case. Sikes went so far as to alter the date of a kidnapping in order to produce an alibi. Sikes met Rudolph during his investigation of the Tierney murders.
