Bath
In "The Landlady," Bath is the town in England where Billy travels from London. It is also where the bed and breakfast is located. Although Billy planned to stay at The Bell and Dragon, when he comes across the cozy looking bed and breakfast, he cannot resist stopping. The fire, the sleeping dog, and the parrot inside look particularly welcoming.
Not long after arriving, Billy begins to wonder if he has made the right decision. The landlady is odd, and he is unnerved by the familiar names in her guestbook. Although he has some questions about the town, the establishment, and the curious woman, Billy ends up staying. The narrative implies that Billy will never in fact leave Bath, not unlike his predecessors at the bed and breakfast.
