Summary

Book Three returns to the moment where people come to pick up Kintu’s body. The crowd is horrified by the kill, and the women are surprised at how fast it happened.

Meanwhile, Chapter One continues with Kanami Kintu and his wife Faisi- called the Awakened couple because they walk in the ways of the Lord - prepare to sow the seeds of God. Faisi’s presence drowns out Kanami who is quieter and passive than his confident wife. They head to the Naakulabye town center where Kanami mourns the European influence, as he believes the city looked better before the Africans moved back after Uganda gained independence.
