Summary
In the beginning of Chapter Eight, Kintu is stunned by the grand palace that is under construction calling it larger than anything he had seen. As his men are overcome by the expense, he warns them against accidentally turning their backs on the king as they are taken to the governor’s quarters. He is met by a courtesan named Nnanteza, but feels sorry for her as she did not make it into the king’s own chambers. Kintu admires her body and calls her beautiful. He says he will not touch her, as he is notorious for turning down those kinds of royal favors. She thanks him as she ensures everything else is taken care of. But after 15 days, Kintu is not summoned by the king and begins to see Kalema’s spirit who tells...
