Three Pines

Three Pines is the village near Montreal where Gamache, Myrna, Clara, Ruth, and others live. After the original meeting at the farmhouse during which Myrna, Gamache, and Benedict learn they have been named as executors of Bertha’s will, the group goes to Three Pines to be safe from the blizzard. They learn the details of the will while they are in Three Pines.

Farmhouse

The dilapidated farmhouse in which Caroline, Tony, and Hugo grew up is the place where Gamache, Myrna, and Benedict learn they were named as executors of Bertha’s will. Tony and Hugo visit this house after their mother’s will is read. Tony apparently confronts Hugo about the clients from whom Hugo has been stealing while they are in the farmhouse together. Hugo hits Tony in the head, killing him. Benedict arrives shortly after Tony has been killed to see how difficult...
