Summary
In Chapter 36, Gamache found the little girl with a middle-aged man. Gamache told the girl that he was not going to hurt her. When the man refused to let the child go, Gamache hit him hard enough to break his nose. Gamache tried to get the girl to talk as he settled her in his car. About that same time, Gamache’s phone rang. Amelia was inside the abandoned factory, and she had found the drugs. Gamache was closer than the other officers. He considered his choices and told the officers he would be there in two minutes. He took the girl to a cafe and begged the waitress to take care of the girl until someone from the police came for her.
