Summary
Arrah remembers when Oshee told her a story of love; where a man fell in love with a Mulani woman. However, the woman fell in love with the king and was accused of bewitching him. Everything about her was torn away by the witchdoctor before he announced that the accusations were false. Unable to love, she returned to the tribe and married the first man, who then fell in love with his own daughter. Arrah wakes up bound by magic to a bed. Arti says that Arrah’s ritual took ten years of her life, but Arti cannot risk Arrah ruining her plans. She says she did not want to take the children, but cannot break an unknown promise she made. She carves a serpent into Arrah’s chest, binding Arrah’s Ka to Arti herself. Arrah races...
