Rev. Norman McCay

In a story about super heroes, it is a meek older man named Rev. Norman McCay who tells the Kingdom Come story.

When the story opens, Norman is fulfilling his pastoral obligation of visiting the sick. Norman thinks the sick man is crazy when he talks of Armageddon and recites prophetic scripture from Revelation. However, the dying man passes his visions on to Norman, enabling him to carry the reader and the Spectre through the story as it unfolds.

Through a sermon he preaches, the reader learns that Norman has lost faith in his own beliefs. He looks around and sees the world in a terrible mess. Add the horrific visions of doom that the dying man shared with him and Norman loses sight of any hope.
