Summary
In, “March 22nd, 1919— The Battlefield,” Orly and Isadore in bed, scared of the knocking at the front door, though it turns out to be just Sore Dick. Orly says that the baby is coming, Sore Dick says that they got a gig at The Cosmopolitan Hotel, the most prestigious white music establishment, for eighty-five dollars. They begin laughing so hard that Isadore doesn’t here Orly scream.
Isadore is looking for a car to take his wife to the hospital, as their plan to use the car belonging to their neighbor fell through. Sore Dick appears with a donkey-cart, and Orly and Isadore get in. Orly says that if anything happens she wants Isadore to know she is proud of him.
