Book Two: Chapters 13-14
Chapter 13
The next day Marlowe visits Mac in the hospital and brings him half of a chicken that he and Larkin bought and cooked the night before with the money the King had paid him. Marlowe tells Mac where the money came from and that he feels guilty that he took it, but Mac tells him he earned it. Speaking a kind of Malay code Marlowe then carefully asks Mac if he knows what part of their radio is broken. Mac says he thinks it is a condenser and Marlowe tells him that he might be able to get another one.
