Chapters 41 and 42 Summary

Liam goes out to the picnic table. Darleen comes out to the picnic table too. Liam admits that everything he's done so far has been to impress her. this takes Darleen by surprise and she apologizes to Liam. After Darleen leaves, Liam leaves a message on his dad's cell. He asks to talk face-to-face with his dad about his future as Liam's birthday present.

Liam's dad leaves Liam a message that he'll pick him on Tuesday for his birthday. Liam starts cleaning the trailer, even though it's a week early. When Pete comes home, Liam admits he's cleaning because his dad is coming on Tuesday to pick him up for his birthday. Pete expresses his surprise that Allan is coming and Liam gets mad and stomps out before Pete has a chance to explain what he means.
