Chapter 16 and Chapter 17 Summary
In chapter sixteen, Nat has a dream that he is a small child playing with his father. His father tosses him into the air and catches him. Nat rises higher and higher into the air until he is completely free from his father's reach. A woman's voice commands Nat to wake up.
In chapter seventeen, Nat wakes up in Guy's Hospital in London in 1999. He reaches for the poem under his pillow, but nothing is there. Nurse Jenkins, the new duty nurse, tells Nat he will be leaving the hospital today. Nat is confused because he has woken up in a different time for the second time in a week. Nat eats a big breakfast and takes a well-deserved shower. Nat is forced to sit in a wheelchair as he is rolled out the doors of the hospital. Aunt...
