Summary

Lanny narrates Chapter 13. She admits when she saw Dahlia’s picture it made her miss her friend more than she realized. She smiles when she sees the picture Connor slipped under the door and thinks she might try to find a frame for it.

Lanny is involved in a video game when Javier turns off the television because a car is coming up the driveway. Javier tells her she needs to hide. She goes to get Connor but cannot find him in his room. The window is open and Lanny suspects he has snuck outside. She crawls out the window but cannot find Connor in the yard or the barn.

Lanny hides in the barn until the car leaves. Inside the cabin, Javier tells her it was Prester checking in on him because he had missed so many hours at the gun range...
