Worthlessness

In Killing Moon, Nesbø demonstrates that even people who seem worthless — such as Harry, Truls, and Aune — can redeem themselves. Katrine begged for Harry to be allowed to investigate Susanne and Bertine’s murders on behalf of the police department, but her superior officers would not allow that because Harry had behaved so badly in the past. Røed does hire Harry based on his reputation for solving crimes, but Røed is angry when he discovers that Harry has put together a team of unknown investigators. Røed, like the others in the police department, judges people based on his opinion of their worth.
