Chapter 25 Summary
Jack gets to Manhattan shortly after four thirty, going immediately to the Columbia University campus. Jack tells Professor Kelstein he is the only surviving person on the list of contacts Joe Reacher made. The professor explains that Joe only spoke in generalities, using him as a sounding board and confesses he is one of the biggest counterfeiters in history. Bartholomew was at the top of the list until his death. Kelstein explains how they were both drafted into counterfeiting in the war for the army to destabilize Nazi economy by flooding it with counterfeit German marks. The interest in the subject stays with both men. Kelstein explains that there are four problems to counterfeiting correctly. They are the press, the plates, the inks, and the paper.
