Summary

Chapter 33 opens with Billie healing from the bullet wound. Billie goes to the garden shed to get away from the others. In the early years, she received coded messages in the form of letters from Constance. She then had a process for creating a plan to carry out the mission. On this day, she has a notebook with puppies on the front and a scented marker. She has a special lighter she always carries. Her mother took it from one of the many men in her life before she abandoned Billie. Billie has used it over the years “when I wanted to burn my bridges, torching report cards and disciplinary notes, rejection letters and pink slips” (212). She tends to travel light but always carries the lighter. It has always provided inspiration until today. The folder she took from Carapaz's house is the dossier...
