Pages 27 through 39 Summary
The section spanning pages 27 through 39 takes the girls from age 12 up until the beginning of their 16th summer. It begins with a lengthy instant message from Carmen to Tibby, chastising her for not showing up for Carmen's Halloween party. The girls had agreed to dress as characters from the Wizard of Oz, and Tibby's failure to come made them look foolish because they had no Cowardly Lion. Carmen is especially upset because Tibby didn't call to say she wasn't coming, and a friend said she saw Tibby at another person's party.
