Roswell, Georgia
Roswell, Georgia is Andy and Kate’s town. Located in the deep South, Roswell is described by Kate as, “twenty miles north of Atlanta, home of an impressively well-stocked Super Target, infinite Waffle Houses, and a staggering number of f-boys” (15). In Roswell there are older homes, townhomes and McMansion developments. Roswell’s location in the deep South is difficult for Andy because his identity is in direct opposition to the attitudes and culture of the town.
Roswell High School
Roswell Hill High is the school Kate attends. The school itself is divided and troubled, as there are cliques within that stereotype. Kate feels threatened and finds it difficult to go to school because of the clique of the f-boys, whom she describes as “fine in isolation [but] when they’re together it’s a whole different story” (39).
