Chapter Three Summary
In the summer of her senior year, Whitney moves to New York to pursue her modeling career, just as Kirsten had done two years previously. Kirsten's modeling focus dwindles but Whitney strives to succeed. After about four months, Kirsten notices changes in her sister and tells her parents, but after they talk to Whitney, they are convinced that everything is fine. The next time the girls visited, the rest of the family is stunned by Whitney's appearance. She cites stress and modeling, managing to soothe her mother and father. Kirsten argues but they aren't prepared to admit what they see. When the girls return separately for Christmas, Whitney coming alone first.
