Summary

Emma cleans Sarah’s hair in Chapter 28. In an effort to bond with standoffish Sarah, Emma reveals that she grew up in foster care and used to store her belongings in trash bags. Emma presents Sarah with a consolation prize for having lice: colorful hair dye.

In Chapter 29, Emma and Justin play zombies in Neil’s backyard. After some teasing, Emma kisses Justin. When they discuss heading back to Justin’s studio apartment, Emma asks Justin if he is okay with casual sex. The question takes Justin aback since he views Emma as a potential long-term partner.
