Summary

In Chapter 16, Justin walks Emma to the dock. He wants to kiss her but they are interrupted by Neil and Amber first, and then Maddy, who comes to collect Emma. Chapter 17 resumes six days later. Benny and Brad tell Justin that they are happy to help with anything and would love to meet Emma. Maddy waits with Emma for Justin to pick Emma up in Chapter 18. Maddy is kind to Amber, upon Emma’s request, but points out Amber’s lack of initiative when it comes to spending time with her daughter. Justin brings Emma a rosebush. In Chapter 19, Justin and Emma visit an antique store in Stillwater. They discuss Justin’s imminent move into Mom’s house. She goes to jail the following day. Just then, Leigh drunkenly calls Justin to ask him to pick her and Mom up from a bar...
