Rest Stop
A rest stop between Jacksonville and Sarasota, Florida, is the setting of the story “Rest Stop.” The main character of the story, Dykstra/Hardin, happens upon a pregnant woman being beaten by her boyfriend at this rest stop. It is after dark and the rest stop is deserted, forcing Dykstra/Hardin to take an active role in saving the woman even though he does not believe that he is capable of helping the woman.
