Section 3: Chapter 3 & 4 Summary

In Chapter 3, Ninnoc finds it strange that Euny does not speak to her after the day she found her in the stables, though Euny visits King Mark twice each year. A change comes one day while Ninnoc is practicing calligraphy. King Mark summons Ninnoc to him as he sits with Euny, and he explains that as noble children are often sent away from home for a year or two as part of their education, Ninnoc will be sent to live with Euny in a year because, as her godmother, Euny claims the right to instruct Ninnoc in certain things she needs to learn that only Euny can teach her.
