Point of View

The story is written in third person but from an entirely limited perspective. The reader is never given any insight into the true thoughts and motives of any of the characters. The only information provided are the spoken words of the various characters which are then coupled with their actions. For example, Brutus continually maintains that believes Caesar’s death is imperative for the survival of Rome. While some of the others are transparent in their jealousy of Caesar, Brutus may have actually acted out of love for his country. Other characters are more easily read. Most of them say they believe Caesar has to die for the good of Rome, but their actions and attitudes indicate they are actually acting out of jealousy and envy.
